Jorge described the educational opportunities as limited in Ecuador, so when Jorge was recruited to play tennis at King, his parents were thrilled for him. The first day he planted his feet onto the campus was move-in day as a freshman.
Jorge loved competing in NCAA tennis and traveling with the team. However, he focused his studies in business administration with a concentration in finance in the hopes to work in Europe. As a King graduate, he is now fulfilling that dream. He landed a position with Amazon as an account specialist for the German and UK marketplaces in Barcelona, Spain. Once established in the company, Jorge plans to continue his education by getting his MBA.
Some of Jorge’s fondest memories at King include the bonds shared between the international community. “We were all people trying to leave our country and gain experience and education abroad,” said Jorge. Advice Jorge would give to King’s current international students is to be open minded. He describes King as a place where he got to meet so many different people from different backgrounds, which has helped shaped him as a person. “Having followed the path of studying abroad while playing college tennis has been the best decision I could have made.”
Congratulations to Jorge and all of our other 2020 graduates!
