Karissa is currently the Marketing Manager at Bristol Motor Speedway which she describes as a dream job. She first fell in love with the Speedway while working an internship as she completed her master’s degree. During that time she began to truly appreciate the place, the business, and the sport of racing in general. Her favorite part of working at the Speedway is the company culture and being involved in all of the events planned at the venue. “I love getting to see people enjoy the work that I do,” said Karissa. In terms of COVID, NASCAR is setting the tone for sports during the pandemic. The All-Star Race was held at the Bristol Motor Speedway on July 15th and it attracted the most amount of fans back since the pandemic started in any sport. “Although the Speedway was not nearly at full capacity it was great to see fans back in the seats and sports continuing in this time.”
Looking back at her time at King, she reminisced about her experiences, meeting her best friend, boyfriend, and teammates that have become like family. She encourages all students who have become friends with international students to go and visit them, to experience how they grew up and their culture. These experiences have been some of her favorites to look back on. As Karissa looks to the future of her work in the racing industry, she is excited about the potential of new and different events happening at the Speedway and plans to put roots down in the area. King University is a fan of the local work you are doing Karissa King. Keep it up!
